Windows won’t update after installing service pack three (SP3)

There are few problems that crop up after and during installing Windows xp service pack 3.
Most of these stem from systems such as Dell and HP that have had sysprep images installed on them.

The problem I was having was a problem updating after installing SP3
The error message was: ‘Error: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded.’
